I'm not really one to get wrapped up in Valentine's Day but I was driving past a farm last week and noticed rows and rows of Naked Lady Bulbs. There was no farm house close by, they were just standing tall amongst the wild oats, weeds and clover in a paddock.
I had to capture their beauty and with farmer permission, I travelled down late this afternoon to snap the prettiness.
In Greek mythology, it is believed that this flower was a quiet and shy nymph that fell in love with a shepherd... So fitting for Valentine's Day!
It is also said that the Naked Lady Lily (Amaryllis Belladonna) in full bloom has often been likened to an attractive and stylish dressed lady.
I wonder then why "Naked" and not 'dressed lady lily'? Ha
Anyway, hope you love it.
Like a vacant lot of wild flowers
overgrown with weed and thorn,
they were blooming without notice
til they caught my eye one morn.
